There are no two people more fun, hilarious, and quirky in a laugh-until-you-almost-wet-your-pants-way than Ben or Lindsey. The only thing better? These two happen to love each other. So in one sun-soaked afternoon, I got the Ben & Lindsey that brighten all days with a single joke, make Wyoming wind still feel like fun, and the two that love their fur babies almost (if not?) more than the time they get to spend together.
Their horses have food based names. Pancakes, Woofles, Werthers, to name a few; their Catahoula Brody somehow fits in perfectly with his 3 cattle dog brothers, Isley, Tippy and Newt, all 4-legs and 3-legs alike. Ben & Lindsey spend their days managing and actively adventuring the historical and legendary Pitchfork Ranch in Meeteetsee, Wyoming, and are currently in the thick of “cow puppy” season. They’re the youngest managers the ranch has seen in its 100+ years of history, and it’s no question they’re lighting the whole place up.
The day of their engagement session, the forecast seemed, fine. But as I drove through the winding dirt stretch towards their own personal mountains, the wind picked up in traditional Wyoming fashion up to a cute 25+ mph. Luckily, both Ben & Lindsey are ranch tough and they set their cruise control for a good time as soon as they put their boots on and headed for the truck. To prepare for the shoot, Lindsey (a very talented photographer herself, so she gets it) picked out color coordinated horses and matched hers and Ben’s perfect western outfits. Though someone (whoever it was – engagements are hard) shaved Ben’s head and forgot the guard on the first shave. He had a great cowboy hat to cover up the newly found baldness, though. Somehow this hilarious mistake turned out better than the intended – it looked great, you’ll see!

These two are far too adorable for their own good, and are very deserving of the warm(er) Wyoming weather for their big day on the ranch this September! How did you meet? Who made the first move?
Okay, well we actually met via Bumble (haha) . . . maybe don’t include that.

We met in person when I was passing through Cody, driving to Bellingham, WA (my hometown) from Debeque, CO. I suggested dinner at this terrible Mexican restaurant and I remember the weirdest thing about our first date was that he didn’t touch the salsa because he said “he couldn’t control himself.” He brought up the futures market, stocks, and politics. Three things I’ve never had an interest in.
What was your first impression of him/her?
Ben : She was drinking a beer and I thought that was cool. And that she was very pretty.
Lindsey : I thought he was very weird. The salsa thing was odd and then his interests were odd. Apparently I’m very judgemental (haha) . But, he was cute and I liked his hat!
How long have you guys been together?
2 and a half years!
How did he pop the question?
We were pheasant hunting! It was opening day and he just got down on one knee when were done. The ring was in his hunting vest! We won the competition for the longest tail feather at the Burlington pizza place that day. [ cute, cute, and more cute!! ]
Did you guys choose your ring together, or did he pick it out himself?
He picked it out himself! He did such a good job because it was not a style I thought I wanted, but I’m in love with it now!
What is your favorite thing about him/her?
Ben : How kind she is and how much fun she is to be around.
Lindsey : His sense of humor and his work ethic.
What is your favorite thing to do to relax together?
Working cows (haha just kidding!). Usually just driving around and looking for animals. Also, we just love being with our dogs and loving on them!
Tell us about the best date you’ve ever been on together!
So many of the simple ones mean so much to me! We stayed at a historic hotel when we went to a heifer sale in southern Colorado. They had a light parade outside that was the cutest little small town parade ever. There was beautiful art on the walls and the dinner was amazing!
What are you most excited for on your wedding day?
I think just seeing all of our friends together. All of my best friends live so far away and I’m just really excited for that. Obviously I’m excited to get married as well! But definitely ready to share that day with everyone!
